Landscape of Lower Austria

Lower Austria is Austria's largest province, stretching from the Bohemian Alps in the north to the Alps in the south. The foothills of the Alps lie exactly between them. To the east, you will find the Vienna basin and the Marchfeld, as well as the Danube floodplains. To the west are forests, moors, ponds and plateaus. Lower Austria is divided into several regions, which are very different in landscape: Waldviertel, Weinviertel, Mostviertel, Wienerwald, March-Donauland and Lower-Austria-South. You can find our holiday homes in Vienna situated right in the middle of Lower Austria, making climatic conditions very different between places.

Cities and encounters

In Lower Austria, St. Pölten, Krems, Waidhofen / Ybbs and Wiener Neustadt are the largest cities. In addition, most of the cities in Austria are located in Lower Austria. Rent an authentic apartment in Austria and you can visit the state capital of St. Pölten. However, St. Pölten was only state capital in 1986 before the city of Vienna was responsible for Lower Austria. St. Pölten, with its well-preserved buildings, offers a varied city experience. Worth mentioning are the town hall, cathedral, land theatre, Riemerplatz and Herrenplatz as well as the Löwenapotheke. This pharmacy has existed since 1545 and is the oldest business in the city. Lower Austria is also the most densely populated province in Austria.
