The first place we would recommend to visit would definitely be Ortygia, the historical city centre of Siracusa. Located near our villas in Siracusa, this historical island is connected to the mainland via two bridges. Along with exploring the impressive baroque architecture of the historical centre, you and your family or partner can venture into the city's 13th century Maniace Castle, or visit the Puazza del Duomo and the Fontana Aretuse. While in Ortygia, we highly recommend visiting the area's colourful districts, especially the Graziella, Mastruarua, Spirduta Turba, and Bottari districts.
Of the previously mentioned attractions, the Duomo is perhaps the most famous attraction for tourists. The Duomo is viewed as the most important church in Siracusa, and is under the protectorate of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Duomo's originally was a site to worship Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Its striking combination of baroque and rococo architecture, as well as its interesting history, as made it a popular tourist destination for many years. We highly recommend enjoying the views of the Duomo from one of the many idyllic cafes in the adjacent piazza.
Lovers of history will have an amazing holiday here, and can use our villas in Siracusa as the perfect launching point to explore the city's historical attractions. Of the many attractions available, we highly recommend the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis. This park includes a 5th century Greek theater, which to this day is used for classical shows in the springtime. This park also houses a limestone quarry, extensive catacombs and the Ear of Dionysus, a grotto named after the Greek god of wine and parties.
