History of Novigrad I A melting pot of influences

The region has experienced many rulers, but today Novigrad is a free city and very proud of their heritage. Some of the special attractions of Novigrad in Croatia are the churches, and there are plenty right on the doorstep of our Croatian villas in Istria. Visit the church of Sts. Lady of Mount Carmel from the 15th century, which is a typically Istrian, aisled building that was formerly a convent church. The parish church of St. Pelagius has three naves and its tower was built on the model of St. Mark's tower in Venice. The church has long been Episcopal Church, portraits inside the church show former bishops.
