Møn is also known for the famous Møn’s Cliff, which we dare say is the greatest of natural sights in the country. This magnificent sight of chalk and sand, which has been eroded by the sea for centuries, is so impressive that you can only go 'wow'! The gleaming white chalk cliffs rise sharply 128m (420ft) above a lovely clear sea, making one of the most striking landscapes in Denmark and one definitely not to be missed whilst self-catering in our Danish cottages. Møns Klint is a very popular tourist destination and the wooded arrival point above the cliffs has a busy cafeteria, souvenir shops and picnic grounds. But none of this detracts from the natural appeal of the cliffs themselves or the lovely woodland above them.

The island has been inhabited for thousands of years, and one of the best preserved ramparts dug up in the land of the Danes is to be found here. Moreover, there are a number of interesting local museums, which can be recommended to anyone who would like to learn more about this lovely area and the Danish culture and history as a whole. Also visit the collection of ancient churches in Møn like the 13th century Fanefjord Kirke with its ancient frescoes or Stege Kirke with its crude but endearing carvings.
Fall in love with the cuisine in Møn
Møn is ideally located to enjoy the unique flavours of the Danish palette. Of course seafood is the star of the show, with dishes ranging from traditional salmon smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches) on homemade rye bread, to freshly-caught fish expertly crafted into sushi rolls. Fertile land also makes this a hotspot for wonderful organic fruit. Apples, grapes and figs thrive in Møn and appear frequently on the Danish menu. Even the honey and wild herbs growing here taste superb, making excellent accompaniements to Danish cuisine.
