Djursland's diverse landscape can be owed to complex ice cap and water movements that developed during the last three ice ages, resulting in very varied surroundings, form Djursland's Bakkelandskap to gorgeous fields and woodland. Among the striking landscape features are the pronounced hills of Mols Bjerge in the south, the verdant drained lake Kolindsund, and the flat lands between Molslandet and Kolindsund. You can also visit from nearby Aarhus, or even rent Denmark accommodation in Zealand near Copenhagen and take the ferry accross to enjoy the charms of both countryside and city.
Beaches for sports and relaxation
The east coast is well known among snorkelling, diving and hunting lovers. At the Karlby and Sangstrup cliffs, you can enjoy the 12-metre-high stretch of limestone cliffs. You can also visit the south of Grenaa, a popular beach in which there is a deposited estuary of Kolindsund to the sea. The southern coast of Djursland is characterised by romantic coves with sandy and pebble beaches, as well as changing depths beyond the beach. The coast is also a wonderful place to discover the joys of Danish cuisine - settle down to a large piece of smoked, pickled or fried fish served with fresh salad and hearty rye bread after a day on the beach.
Flora and Fauna
Øjesø in Skramsø Plantage Djursland has three major forest areas: Emmedsbo Forest in the northeast, Løvenholm Forest in the central part, and Skramsø Plantage in the south. Grenaa
