Go for walks in the woods and fields, relax on the beach, visit the museums or just enjoying the atmosphere. There is no doubt that Aarhus has a wonderful personality and a vibrant and bustling atmosphere - it is not without reason that the city is called the "city of smiles". All this and more contributes to making Aarhus the ideal destination for a holiday in our holiday homes in Denmark.

Activities and experiences

Even though Aarhus is a big city, there are still many experiences for those of you who want to be active in nature. The Botanical Garden is one of the largest and most visited parks in the city. Inside the greenhouse you can explore four different climate zones each of which offers its own selection of impressive plants. The growth houses in the garden have actually won a prestigious architectural award, The International Architecture Award, in 2016. It is therefore not just the plants that impress visitors here.

A little south of the city you will find the Marselisborg Forests, which is a seven kilometre long forest belt along the coast. In the Thorskoven, which is part of the forest area, lies the zoo of Marselisborg, where you can get close to deer, reindeer and wild boar. The zoo is also not far from the beautiful Marselisborg castle which is also definitely worth seeing during your trip.

When you rent a holiday home in East Jutland  you can of course go on the beach. Along the coast of Aarhus you will find a number of beautiful beaches, such as Den Permanente, Ballehage beach and Bellevue beach. You can also combine a day at the beach with an architectural experience. On Varna Beach in Aarhus Bay you can admire the 'Infinite Bridge'.

Attractions and sights

In 2017, Aarhus received the honourable award of being name the European Capital of Culture. This award is given to cities that stand out, and so Aarhus is a deserving winner - we are sure you will see why during your stay in one of our range of holiday homes in Denmark in and around the city. One of the biggest attractions in Aarhus is the Old Town, best described as a journey back in time.
