However, the landscape is still lush and there is a wonderful contrast between the sea, the cliffs, the city and the vegetation. You can explore the amazing beaches, the port of Puerto de las Nieves beauty, the historical heritage of Agaete and the views that await you in the valley. Close to town and attractions

Near your houses in Agaete you will find both small towns, big port towns and a wealth of attractions plenty of culture and sites of natural beauty. In Puerto de las Nieves you can visit the Catholic Church of the same name, built in the 17th century when Agaete was a centre for sugar exports. Around the church the original old fishermen’s houses are built, which formed the foundations of the old town.

On the short walk from Agaete to Puerto de las Nieves you will pass Casa Fuerte, which is one of the area's most important buildings. We would also suggest a visit to the characteristic church of La Concepción, which stands out from the city's white painted houses with its red stone work. Next to the church is the city's botanical garden Huerto de las Flores with more than 100 plant species from around the world. You can also take a trip to the archaeological site of Necropolis de Maipés near Agaete, where you will find over 600 burial mounds, so it has been declared a historic-art monument.

A day trip along the northern side of Gran Canaria is certainly recommended as you will pass by exciting cities and a wealth of beaches. On the trip you will pass Gáldar with its cave paintings, Guía known for its cheese, Moya, located at the foot of the island's largest volcano and Teror, home to Gran Canaria's patron saint, Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pino. Last but not least, you end up in the island's capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, known for its cultural diversity, the many attractions and fantastic restaurants where you can taste the island's wonderful cuisine.
