With a holiday home in Tarragona, you are in the midst of the wonderful history of Spain as well as being close to the lovely sandy beaches. The old town is the city's highlight and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Tarragona was the capital of Hispania Citerior during the Roman Empire and there are many buildings from this period that still stand today that you can see during your stay in your chosen villas or apartments in Spain. The historic centre is surrounded by a magnificent city wall from the 3rd century BC, which was later renovated in the Middle Ages. All this is just metres away from the beautiful blue waters of the sea, where – once you have had your fill of history – you can take part in a wide variety of water sports. Right next to the beach is also the Roman amphitheatre, which in ancient times would house up to a staggering 12,000 people.
In the historical centre you can visit the Cathedral of Santa MarÃa, which is built on top of a Roman temple and a Muslim mosque and exhibits a diverse range of styles. After a nice lunch at one of the city's many lovely restaurants and cafés, where you can enjoy some delicious Spanish cuisine during your stay in your chosen holiday accommodation in Tarragona. After a delicious lunch, why not spend the afternoon strolling around the town and taking in the wonderful atmosphere of the Mediterranean city, being sure to pass by the Casa del Degá, Casa dels Concilis and Casa de la Ciutat, where you can really get a feel for the history of the city.
