The Authentic Tenerife
After all that walking around and sightseeing, there are some elegant restaurants to try, particularly in the Zona Kiu in the Casa de Ponte-Fonte where you can try the local cuisine and excellent local wines and give yourself a break from self-catering Spain, although this is the best way to see La Orotava and its surrounding areas.
In the Orotava mountains there are lots of paths for walking and hiking and it is also possible to reach the National Park of Canadas de Teide. As well as inland excursions, there are 3 lovely sandy beaches in la Orotava which are rarely crowded. The colonial town of La Orotava is one of the best places to stay in villas in Canaries to see the real Tenerife and its culture and architecture as well as a good place to be able to access nice beaches and walks in the National Park.
